I think what you said made a ton of sense. However, what about this?
what if you composed a catchier title? I ain't saying your content isn't good, but what if you added a title that makes people want more?
I mean in_the_CUT :: is kinda vanilla. You could glance at Yahoo's home page and note how they write news titles to get people interested.

You might add a related video or a related picture or two to get people interested
about everything've written. Just my opinion, it could
bring your blog a little bit more interesting.
